/ Alexander McQueen / London

Designed by architect Smiljan Radić for Alexander McQueen, the Glass Tubes concept introduced a series of large-scale glazed elements connecting multiple levels within the stores.

As they pass through the building, the tubes continuously change their function and relationship with the surrounding space. Depending on their location, they become balustrades, ceiling features, enclosed glazed volumes and visual connections between floors, creating a unique architectural experience throughout the stores.

The project required the development of highly bespoke curved glazing solutions, integrated structural support systems and meticulous coordination between architecture, engineering, fabrication and installation.

Rather than acting as a conventional building element, the glazing becomes an integral part of the architectural concept, shaping movement, light and visual connections throughout the space while preserving the clarity and ambition of the original design vision
